So...who are you?

Hi, and thanks for asking.

My name is Bill...surprise, surprise.  I have lived in Tokyo for quite some years now and have a degree in food sciences. However, I'm not a brewer nor in the restaurant business, nor am I a professional food or entertainment writer.

So, why should you pay any attention to me?

No idea -- and that's okay.  I simply want to invite you to share in some of my experiences exploring the Tokyo area craft beer scene, and other establishments.  I intend to showcase some of the products and places that I happen to like, and to highlight upcoming events that you may appreciate knowing about.

So with that, my fellow beverage aficionados, welcome to, and thank you for visiting ... theTokyoBill.

Cheers!

Care to help?

Donations appreciated...though certainly not expected!

I appreciate I'm not the only one promoting craft beer venues, but I'm keen to visit more places and get some good info out there, especially with so many venues available. This website is a hobby but if I can generate a bit of income that would help me pay the bills...oh no, another bad Bill pun...sigh.

Anyway, I've got T-shirts & hoodies, etc. available on Bonfire (see sample photos below).

And, if you'd like me to review a particular brewpub in the Kanto area, you'd be doing me a big favor by helping me get out and about...via links on the previous pages, or directly via PayPal.  Much appreciated!

Once again, thanks so much for visiting my site, everyone -- hope you get to visit Japan sometime!

Beer related apparel?  Okay, it's not the most original idea.

Still, the designs ARE original--plus you're basically buying me a beer!  All of the tops pictured are available in other styles, colors, and multiple sizes.  Don't like the colors on offer?  Drop me a line & let me know what you're after--alternate colors Are possible!

Can you say Ninja?

Not manga or anime, but the ... real deal!

One big reason I came to Japan was the opportunity to study the martial art lineage known as ninjutsu.  The dojo founder and head teacher, Masaaki Hatsumi, has officially retired from teaching, whereas I've only unofficially halted my training.

I've taken shodo calligraphy Sensei painted for me, and come up with some apparel designs for your consideration.  Also via Bonfire, these tops will help you both stand out and hide amongst your dojo friends, plus you'll be helping me out!

As with the apparel above, alternate styles & colors are viewable via the store link.  And should you want different color choices, let me know.

Artwork et al

From my personal collection of calligraphy and pictures, hand-painted by my teacher.  And other things you might find interesting.

Over many years I collected pieces from Hatsumi-sensei, and kept them in storage but maybe You will be able to show them off on your own wall.  Each piece is a unique item, ink-on-paper, you can frame and hang for a beautiful touch of Japanese culture.

Pieces will be sent via snail mail, at no extra cost.  Should you wish alternate shipping, we can discuss.
